Before I begin, let me just say that this is just my opinion. You don't have to agree with me in any way. I am basing my beliefs on the Bible.
With that being said: lets dive in.
When you make efforts to talk to "the dead" you aren't actually talking to your love ones who have passed or the actual dead like you believe you are doing. They have already departed to their final destination-being heaven or hell. There are no "ghosts" roaming the earth due to unfinished business. The Bible makes this clear in Hebrews 9:27, "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement." Therefore, there is no in between. There is no possibility of remaining on earth in spirit form as a "ghost". With that being said, again, you are not speaking to a once living being when trying to communicate with the dead.
What they are making contact with are real, live, demonic spirits who are posing and masquerading as dear, departed, loved ones.
The Bible tells us that Satan and his demons can come to us and appear as angels of light. By playing with a ouija board or attempting to talk to the other side in any other way, you are quite literally creating a portal for those demons and are inviting them into your life. The devil's intentions are clear: to kill, steal, and destroy. If he has to deceive a person to gain trust/entry into their life (maybe by doing something along the lines of acting like a deceased grandmother, etc.) don't you think he would do it? Satan takes advantage of people's ignorance in order to victimize them. Even though Satan is wise, he is not the omniscient god is.
He therefore counterfeits everything in the kingdom of God in order to deceive the saints of God into false worship. One of such counterfeit is the ‘unholy ghosts’ which is a cheap imitation of God's Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost as some interpreters have it. Satan’s demon spirits masquerade as ghosts (unholy ghosts) in order to torment, oppress, intimidate, manipulate and control humans as a means of fulfilling his commission against humans to “to steal, kill and destroy” them (John 10:10).
So in short, the ghost of your "grandfather" that visits your bedroom every night isn't actually your grandfather at all... It is simply a demon trying to gain your trust and entry into your life.
Again, you don't have to believe me on this. I know it might sound weird but it is what I believe as a christian.
