Proper Fast-food Customer Etiquette

This post can also go for pretty much any store/restaurant with people whose job is to serve others.

Alright, so let me begin with this: some of you have not been raised right. I am currently 18 years old and have worked in the fast food buisness for over 2 years. Let me just say, you meet some characters. I can't even recall the number of rude customers I have gotten throughout the years, but I'm going to assume that at this point, it is somewhere in the thousands. Clearly something needs to change. That's where I come in. I am here to educate you on how to properly behave towards people who are SERVING YOU. Maybe there are some rude employees out there, and maybe they don't deserve your kindness. However, I am not one! If someone gives you a reason to be rude/complicated, so be it. But if they're just trying to do their job.... give them a damn break.

1. When I happily greet you through the drive-thru, DON'T ignore me. I hate repeating myself. If I'm asking you over and over again whether you're ready to order or not and you continue to ignore me.. I take back my niceness. Just tell me you need a second. It's not that hard.

2. If you want two separate orders, tell me before hand. Not after I already told you your total and to pull around.

3. Please know what you want ahead of time. Or at least be considerate of our time and try to decide quickly. We really don't have all day.

4. DON'T YOU DARE PULL OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SENTENCE. I will legitimately catch an attitude right then and there. That is my biggest pet peeve and literally the most rude thing you can do in a drive-thru. Would you walk away from someone in the middle of a sentence? No? Okay so you can wait the extra 5 seconds for me to repeat your order and tell you your total.

5. Don't get mad if your order is messed if you DID pull away in the middle of my sentence. Sorry, hun. That's all on you. You should've waited the extra 5 seconds and you would've noticed that I misheard your drink. Too hungry to be patient I see?

6. PLEASE don't add on stuff at the window. I am guilty of this too sometimes but it really is so annoying when a person is about to pull off but then adds something extra onto their order.

7. By all means, check your food. But pull up before you do so. We are under very strict time limits and every second counts.

8. USE YOUR MANNERS DAMNIT! I am literally serving you. The least you can do is say "thank you" when I hand you your food.

9. Get off your phone. See, what you're not going to do is make me look like the rude one when I "interrupt" your conversation on the phone. Do you want your food or not?

10. I don't control the prices. So don't bitch at me for them, there's literally nothing I can do.

11. Tell your friends to be quiet. We hear everything through the speakers. Yes, everything. So unless you want your order screwed up because you have 6 people talking in the background, I advise you to shut them up.

12. Don't smoke at the window. So rude. I don't even know why I would need to explain this one. Disgusting.

13. Be a decent human being.

Most of us are making minimum wage to deal with complicated people all day. Please, just be kind.
